HEATHER SINFIELD
BSc. (Hons), HPD, DipCHyp, NLP Prac
With a degree in Psychology, I spent several years supporting bereaved parents through the Child Death Helpline based at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
From there, I moved into a more corporate role, gaining experience and an understanding of the stresses, anxieties and demands of both corporate and personal lives. There then came the realisation that something was missing from my life and needed to move into a more fulfilling role that could help people make fundamental changes in their lives.
After suffering from Covid I took the decision to train as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist with the world-renowned Quest Institute where I was fortunate to be able to be taught by the founder of Cognitive Hypnotherapy and WordWeaving – Trevor Silvester.
Studying Cognitive Hypnotherapy has changed my life and the Quest Institute has taught me many different techniques from a range of different approaches including hypnotherapy, NLP and positive psychology. This means that I can tailor my approach to the individual and treat the person within their view of the world.

Nothing is out of Reach with Cognitive Hypnotherapy…
Using a large number of techniques from Hypnotherapy, Positive Psychology, Evolutionary Psychology, Cognitive Behaviour and NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) I work with each client as an individual and create a bespoke treatment plan based on how they view the world.
As a practitioner of Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy, I believe that each client already has the answers within that they need to help themselves. I work with my clients to develop their own toolkit and develop their strengths and coping strategies in order that they can achieve the change they desire and live the life they looking for..
People enter into a state of trance every day of their lives without realising it. Have you ever driven a familiar journey and when you reach your destination have no recollection of the journey? This is an example of everyday trance and it is this state that I will utilise with you in your sessions with me.
What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
“Our approach is significantly different from the traditional schools of Hypnotherapy. We draw on recent discoveries and ideas from Evolutionary Psychology, Positive Psychology, Cognitive theory and NLP and incorporate them into a modern idea of hypnosis to provide a framework for therapy.
We do not advocate one single approach as the answer to all of life’s problems. We introduce our students to a range of techniques drawn from different disciplines that we have found to be the most effective tools for change so far. These are moulded into an approach tailored for the specific needs of each client.” Trevor Silvester
AN EVIDENCE-BASED THERAPY
Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy (QCH) launched a unique research pilot in 2011.
Using a team of QCH therapists; clients with anxiety and depression were assessed using the same outcome measures currently used to assess the effectiveness of talking therapies within the NHS. The pilot study was published in the Mental Health Review Journal in 2015.
It recorded that, using 118 cases measuring the effectiveness of Cognitive Hypnotherapy for the treatment of depression and anxiety, 71% considered themselves recovered after an average of 4 sessions. This compared to an average of 42% for other approaches using the same measures (like CBT). To our knowledge, this is the only hypnotherapy approach to have been validated in this way.

Transform Your Life: Overcoming Misophonia with Sequent Repatterning
Are you struggling with those annoying sounds of somebody chewing ? Does the sound of somebody breathing make you want to lash out ? Why do people sniff so loudly ?
This is what life can feel like with misophonia – Misophonia is a neurological disorder that causes intense emotional and physical reactions to specific sounds, often referred to as trigger sounds. These sounds may include eating, breathing, sniffling, or clicking, and can lead to feelings of anger, anxiety, and frustration in individuals with misophonia.
The exact causes of misophonia are unknown, but it is believed to be linked to an overactive fight-or-flight response in the brain. When a trigger sound is heard, the brain perceives it as a threat and responds accordingly. This response can manifest as a range of physical and emotional symptoms, including rapid heartbeat, sweating, and irritability.
The effects of misophonia can be far-reaching, impacting a person’s ability to socialize, work, and even engage in basic daily activities. Individuals with misophonia may avoid situations where trigger sounds are likely to occur, leading to isolation and social withdrawal. They may also struggle with concentration and productivity, as trigger sounds can be distracting and overwhelming.
Don’t despair – there is help out there. There is a programme called Sequent Repatterning that has been designed specifically to work with those suffering with Misophonia.
Sequent Repatterning recognises that Misophonia is a neurological condition and uses an approach underpinned by Solid NeuroScience.
I offer a free no obligation consultation consultation so that we can get to know each other properly before we start to work together.
